Rae recognised for 50 years serving Jamaica’s motorsport - JMMC awards gala honours its heroes

The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) rolled out the red carpet on Saturday night for its second annual Awards Gala at S Hotel Kingston, celebrating excellence across karting, circuit racing, drifting, simulation racing and international representation in 2025.

Over 100 guests -- competitors, officials, sponsors, media and stakeholders -- filled the venue in formal attire for an evening that honoured on-track stars and the unsung heroes behind the scenes.

The night's emotional high point came when JMMC Chairman Stephen Gunter presented a special certificate of appreciation to Peter Rae for more than 50 years of distinguished service to Jamaican motorsport, including representing the island internationally. The tribute drew a standing ovation and underscored the gala's deep respect for legacy and longevity in the sport.

FIA Vice-President for Sport (North America) Daniel Coen attended as special guest, reinforcing the JMMC's strong global ties. He presented the FIA Outstanding Official of the Year award to Neil Williams, celebrated for his role as chief timekeeper at karting and circuit events.

Twenty-two stewards and six marshalls received formal recognition for ensuring safety and smooth event delivery throughout 2025.

On the competitive side, the Jamaica Race Drivers Club honoured nine class champions and overall champion Kyle Mais; Jamaica Karting Association awarded 18 top-three finishers and overall champion Dylan Smith; Drift Ruption Series crowned Cleve Ottey as overall champion; and Jamaica Simulation Racing Association gave a special trophy to Jayden Harrison for excellence in sim racing.

Fifteen competitors received certificates of appreciation for flying Jamaica's flag internationally in 2025.

The gala continues to grow as Jamaica's premier celebration of motorsport achievement.
