St Catherine Municipal Corporation to assist Bahamas recovery

The St Catherine Municipal Corporation has committed a total of US$5000 to the relief efforts in The Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.
This sum was arrived at following a resolution on Thursday at the monthly general meeting in Spanish Town.
"Having heard of the problems of the destruction of our sister island Bahamas, we're very pleased to be able to be assist in the venture of aid and recovery. Having this announcement on this date it is even more special," said Mayor Norman Scott, referring to September 12, the date Hurricane Gilbert hit Jamaica in 1988.
Those who attended the meeting heard that while more than 50 persons have been reported dead in The Bahamas, there are 2500 reported missing since the passage of the category five hurricane.
