Single mom owes for light and water

Dear STAR,

I am stressed. All my bills are months overdue. I owe courts $25,000 for a stove, and a loan that I borrowed to assist my daughter to attend school, now they want to take legal action, as I can't find the money to pay. My water was disconnected for $30,000, this month, and my light bill is months in arrears. I have three children attending school and I'm a single mom. I can hardly find money to send them to school sometimes, but it's the grace of God that I can get help with them. Any assistance given would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Wouldn't you like to be bill free for a month?

Well, THE STAR has the answer to that question with our new competition called Bill Free.

As the People Paper, we have been around for decades and we have also seen the plight of ordinary Jamaicans. So, in this bill-payment competition, Bill Free, we want to help some of our readers pay their bills on a monthly basis.

Simply write to THE STAR at starbillfree@gmail.com or send a message to our Facebook page, Facebook.com/JamaicaStar, giving details of your financial struggles, disclose your bill amount for the month and tell us why we should assist you.

After the entries have been shortlisted, the stories will be published in THE STAR and posted on our Facebook page. Thereafter, the public will have a chance to decide who is most in need.
