Another single Christmas

December 08, 2015

It's December, Christmas time, and everyone is getting ready to spend their holidays celebrating and sharing with their loved ones and spouses. It's the time of year when a lot of single people start to evaluate their lives and realise that another year is about to end and they are still single. This realisation then tends to make singles feel depressed because they don't have a special someone to share the holidays with. Now, I understand how it can feel lonely being single, especially this time of year, but the best way to deal with it is to adjust the perspective.

Being single does not have to feel like a lonely life sentence, instead it can be a time to discover who you are and work on being the best version of yourself. Too many persons are trying to find happiness outside of themselves, which is risky because it actually starts with self.

It is important to feel confident and happy as an individual before becoming part of a couple. An insecure, unhappy person is not only unattractive but it is not easy for that person to participate in a relationship. So here are some things that single people can do to make the best of their holidays:

Get a makeover

A makeover is a great confidence booster and it's a great way to put you in a festive mood. The makeover itself can be something small like changing your hair, or you can go all out and try a new head-to-toe look. Who knows? the new and improved you just might meet a potential partner.

Volunteer and help

someone

There are a few charity organisations that have specific activities to help the needy for the holidays. Becoming a volunteer in one of these organisations will keep you busy, make you feel good for helping, and you can meet some new people. Sharing the love with those less fortunate is also very good for your confidence.

go out with other single people

The great thing about the holiday season is that there are so many parties and events to go to. So just gather your single friends and get your party on. If you are not interested in partying, there are many other things that you can do as a group. Just don't spend the holidays locked up alone at home.

Join a social group

With the rise of the fitness craze, many running clubs have popped up and the holidays brings people together for charity. Joining one of these groups is a great way to meet new people and to also participate in something that can help you improve as an individual.

Try something new

Stepping outside of your routine is a great way to boost your confidence, meet new people and give yourself a sense of accomplishment by learning something new. Just approach it with an open mind and be willing to try.

Being single this time of year can be daunting, especially if everyone around you seems to be part of a couple. Don't focus so much on your single status. Just find activities to do and people to share them with. Remember that your happiness is your business and you must work on it.

Good luck and happy holidays.

Question

Dear Dr Sexy-Ann,

I'm a Facebook fan who likes reading your articles. I need your assistance. I am unable to orgasm. I have tried so many things, oral sex, various positions, even recently buying a butterfly with no help. Sigh! It's rather frustrating. I have been in a relationship for six years and my spouse has tried. We are both frustrated. Please help

C, Kingston.

Dear C,

Having an orgasm is not just a physical activity, it's also mental. Sometimes we are so focused on trying to achieve it that we miss out on the whole sexual pleasure. So first, I want you to get to know your body by masturbating. When you get out of the shower, take a moment to really appreciate your body. Don't make it about just getting an orgasm. Just touch yourself and focus on what feels good and what you like about it. The more you know your body, your

ability to enjoy it will increase.

Try talking to your partner about what you enjoy and how you want him to please you. The more you enjoy the pleasure, the more relaxed and open you will be so that you can eventually achieve orgasm

Good luck,

Dr Sexy-Ann
