#RelationshipGoals

March 26, 2019

I love social media; it’s an amazing place to see people show off various aspects of their lives, from the business achievements to the love stories.

Sifting through much of the photos, it’s easy to see themes which are what hashtags are for. One of my favourite hashtags is #ReationshipGoals, just because it shows different expressions of love and seemingly happy relationships.

While it’s nice to see all the love being shared, it makes me pause to think about what our real relationship goals should be.

It’s also important to note that not everything is as it seems online. There are certain elements that are integral to the success of any relationship.

Communication

Thanks to technology, there are so many ways to keep in touch with each other. Unfortunately, not all of them are great for real, deep conversations. It’s important for couples to actually talk to each other face to face, looking into each other’s eyes and being completely open with each other. Sometimes that’s not possible on a device.

Flexibility

As individuals, we have our feelings and opinions about a lot of things and we feel the need to defend them. But in relationships, we sometimes have to be open to seeing things from a different perspective and trying something new. Being in a relationship will open you to different experiences; being flexible can make them fun.

Intimacy

It’s important to always express your feelings for each other – physically and verbally. Make time to build intimacy with each other as a couple. It’s easy to enjoy intimacy when the relationship is new, but when a couple has been together for a while, sometimes life gets in the way. Be deliberate about being together and always nurture the intimacy in your relationship.

Conflict Management

Disagreement is inevitable in relationships and it’s important to be respectful to each other, even when there’s conflict. Figure out how you can work out your differences and keep the union intact.

Relationship goals are attainable as long as you are willing to commit and do the work together as a couple. Always remember that the ultimate goal is your happiness, and regardless of how it looks on social media, it is important to achieve that in real life. Have fun and stay sexy.
