Cyber Cheating

April 09, 2019

In 2019, it’s almost impossible to go through an entire day and not spend any time on social media.

According to a recent study published on www.digitalinformationworld.com, the average person spends about two hours and 22 minutes a day on social networking and messaging platforms.

The truth is, social media has become a very important part of modern life. Among other things, these applications are used to market brands and businesses, unite friends and family, and even find love.

Unfortunately, social media can also have a negative effect on relationships, based on the amount of time an individual spends online and what they actually do while they are engaged.

When it comes to cheating, a person does not have to physically engage with someone to be unfaithful to their partner.

Activities online, especially on social media, can definitely cause conflict and create trust issues in relationships.

The whole definition of cheating may vary, but as a basic rule, I define online cheating as any activity that someone might not be comfortable doing with the knowledge of, or even in front of, their spouse.

So what are some of the things that you could do online that is considered cheating?

Sexting – Sharing nude photos with someone other than your partner.

Joining porn websites – While there are some persons who are not offended when their spouse watches porn, joining a site is more deliberate and can become very addictive.

Engaging a dating site – Being on a dating site usually means that you are available. If you’re in a relationship, that may not be the best choice.

Having an emotional relationship online – Physically engaging with someone is one thing, but developing an emotional connection online can be very dangerous.

Cyber sex – Performing a sexual show for someone, even long distance, is certainly a betrayal, particularly if that someone is not your partner.

The Internet has done much to open our eyes and to make it easier to communicate with each other. It has also caused much conflict in relationships.

Social media can be an amazing tool that can bring much fun and convenience to your life; do not abuse it. Also, feel free to put down the devices and just enjoy each other’s company.
