Professionals show stage craft
Patrons attending the 2015 Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry Expo were treated to an evening of fun and laughter, after prominent business operators left the comfort of their offices to perform during 'Professionals On Stage' segment last Saturday.
The event, sponsored by Ward Power Tools, provided an opportunity for relaxation and ease for exhibitors and patrons alike.
The gospel genre got things underway as Fidelity Motors' sales and marketing manager Leslie Nembhard, sang a medley of popular gospel songs, which were well received.
Cathay McDonald-Reid, credit manager of First Global Bank, might have surprised many with some slick dancehall moves. McDonald-Reid was supported by the Dance Spirit Performing Arts group. JCDC western regional director, Natalie Morris, showed that she was made for the stage with a her dance routine, Watch Out Fi Dis'
Nadean Rawlins', area manager for Guardsman Group Limited, western region familiarity with the performing arts was evident as she performed an original piece, Naygah Bickle.
Joel Ryan, entertainment manager Sandals group, entertained with some of the latest dance moves. She was accompanied by characters from the 80s children's series, Sesame Street.
Long-time actor Patrick Prendergast, who is campus director at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Western Jamaica Campus, showed that he could still entertain with and almost perfect rendition of Bob Marley's Redemption Song.
The penultimate act was Lloyd B Smith, journalist and deputy speaker of the House of Representatives in his role as the 'Fluffy Don', a mix of social commentary, acting, and dancing. He was well received.
Montego Bay-based all-male reggae/R&B group Kahlil closed the show.
