Trinidad’s Yung Bredda a hit with Jamaicans

A month ago when Trinidadian recording artiste Yung Bredda was freestyling in his home, he had no idea that a screen recording of his Instagram live session would go viral.

He caught the attention of artiste manager and business mogul Romeich Major, who expressed an interest in working with the artiste. Last week, in tandem with Optimus Productions, Yung Bredda released the single, Fed Up.

"I especially happy about the Romeich partnership. I is a person who think for the future and I always been telling myself this from day one, eventually I am going to meet all these people. I tell myself I am going to talk to Popcaan, I going to meet Shenseea, so when it happens is like I know it was going to happen and it feels good ," he told THE WEEKEND STAR.

But the 21-year-old said the popularity did catch him off guard, as he was just enjoying himself.

"Once yuh music is Jamaican or supported by Jamaicans, there is 99.9 per cent possibility you will go international, and so I look at it as a great accomplishment for the Jamaican people to love what I doing. I really love that," he said. Yung Bredda says he is looking forward to visiting Jamaica as he has his sights set on working with a few local acts.

The entertainer expressed that he has wanted to be an artiste since he was seven years old. He revealed that after watching his father gunned down in front of his school at age 12, music has always been an escape.

"I stick my music into my ears and I block out the world. I write songs and thing and people will get the real me through the music, someone they can connect with," he said.

He shared that Fed Up was inspired by persons growing extremely restless from the curfews and restrictions. They have simply become 'fed up'.

"I will stay inside the whole day so isolating myself in the pandemic has not been a problem to me. But Yung Bredda speaks for the people and the people a say dem fed up. I now have to make that statement in an appropriate way that everybody can relate to, sing and laugh and enjoy although we fed up," he said.
