The Trang Back Tonic Wine-sponsored Boston Jerk festival is set to make a grand return on July 9 and 10 on the grounds of the Boston beach in Portland.

Organisers have said that the festival will satisfy the crave of jerk lovers, while providing quality entertainment to patrons. The event is making a grand return following a two-year lockdown of the entertainment sector by Government, due to COVID-19 pandemic.

"Boston, the home of jerk is renowned worldwide, and we decided that this will be a celebration of the world's hottest cuisine that will be on display locally," said Colin Bell, CEO of the Boston Jerk Celebrations.

"With the reopening of the entertainment sector we saw it necessary to stage this festival, which is well needed, as the spin-off will be great for everyone operating business in the area. The stage is set for a rather fun-filled two days of food and entertainment," Bell said.

According to Bell, the event will see performances from veteran reggae artiste George Nooks, international dancehall artiste Sasco, and one of Jamaica's hottest performers, Laa Lee.

"It is a two-day event which seeks to attract an audience from varied countries across the world, who will be invited to prepare their best native cuisine on that day. And of course, day two, which will be Sunday July 10, will see activities for the festival itself, including a variety of specially prepared jerked meals - fish, vegetable, and other array of food - along with a stage show. It is a community event, and the entire area will be transformed," Bell said.

Meanwhile, Hawthorne Thompson, managing director of Trang Back Tonic Wine, said that the Boston Jerk fest has a rich history, and that this year's festival is being held at a time when there will be heightened national pride.

"There is no doubt that this year's celebration will be one with great meaning. As we celebrate Jamaica's 60th anniversary, we are proud to be in celebration with Boston Jerk Celebrations and the people of Jamaica," Thompson said.
