June 09, 2016

If you think you can run a hotel with a certain level of professionalism, a friendly manner and a lot of hospitality, then this might be the job for you.

A Portmore, St Catherine-based hotel is currently on the lookout for a worthy hotel manager who is able to motivate staffers and coordinate the day-to-day affairs of the establishment's activities.

THE STAR, in this week's Jobs to Go feature, is attempting to make a match between employers and employees. After searching the Gleaner Classifieds for job vacancies, our news team connected with the 35-year-old administrator of the hotel, who was able to shed some light on just who he considers to be a right fit for the job.

"We are looking for somebody who has leadership qualities," the administrator began. "Someone who has tertiary education, not necessarily in hotel management, but somebody who has worked at least three years in the field. We are looking to train successful persons. Anyone with strong leadership qualities."

According to the initial classified ad, the entity is on the lookout for a manager who "Must have related managerial experience and/or bachelor's or diploma in related discipline" and "must live in Portmore". Persons are expected to turn up for the job interview with an open mind and observe standard procedures, the administrator added.

"For most interviews, you need somebody who can sell themselves with good interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively," she said. "We have 25-room capacity and this person will be overseeing everything. They will be in charge of the day-to-day goings of the business."

Additionally, it wouldn't hurt if interested persons are naturally reliable and have enough stamina to meet the rigorous demands of the establishment's activities while possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Interested persons can call (876) 708-8335 or (876) 988-6373 for further information.
