Alleged 'video rapist' in custody

The police have confirmed that the man in an alleged rape video that sent many tongues wagging after it went viral on social media earlier this week has been identified and is now in their custody.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that the accused man will be questioned today in the presence of his attorney.

The Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) has been closely following the incident since it hit the public domain.

Yesterday, the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) confirmed that the man was picked up and said more information would be made available shortly.

Meanwhile, police said contact was made with the female in the video and it was revealed that she is at least 18 years old.

The police are investigating the matter with a view of determining if the act caught on tape was in fact rape.
