Man claims he borrowed stolen vehicle

January 21, 2016

A man held driving a stolen motor car along Washington Boulevard in St Andrew told the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court that he borrowed the vehicle from the owner.

As it turned out, the complainant in the matter was not the person from whom he got the car, a Nissan Tiida from.

When the matter was called up last Friday, Damian Graham pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen property.

Allegations are that Graham obtained the car knowing it to be stolen or unlawfully obtained. He was stopped during a police spot check.

The court was told that certain documents were outstanding from the Tax Administration department and Graham was asked to return to court on February 19.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey also requested that he give his fingerprints to the police.
