Alleged phone thief remanded
A man accused of stealing a cell phone was ordered remanded when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Charged with simple robbery is Kingsley Gunter, who pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Allegations are that on the day of the incident, the male complainant was going about his business in downtown Kingston, when the accused man reportedly approached him and relieved him of his LG Touch cellular phone.
Following a report made, Gunter was arrested and charged.
In court, Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey quizzed the accused, questioning whether he had been in trouble with the law before, to which he nodded indicating that he had.
Gunter further revealed that his previous brush with the law was of a similar nature to his current court case.
Pusey ordered Gunter remanded until December 9, at which point he is expected to stand trial.
