Eight cops transferred from Alexandria Police Station

The southern St Ann community of Alexandria has been plagued with theft, larceny, burglary and robbery over the past three months.

Senior Superintendent Wayne Cameron told THE WEEKEND STAR that six break-ins have occurred over the last three months and it has triggered an increase in police patrol in the community.

"The police have ramped up their presence on the road. There is a significant improvement in terms of police presence," Cameron said.

Meanwhile, the senior cop has dismissed claims that the high command was forced to transfer eight police officers from the Alexandria Police Station after residents complained that they were not being properly served.

"That is not something that I can speak about. That is purely administrative. That is our business; I can't tell you that, in terms of our internal business. Factually, policemen were transferred, which is something that happens from time to time. Nobody asked for anybody to be transferred," Cameron said.

"It is the business of the commanding officer to make that decision from time to time," he added.

Cameron further explained that the incidents were taking place in the town as oppose to more rural communities and this might have assisted in the incidents gaining more notoriety.
