J'cans flock 'deep throat' spray

THE STAR has learnt that many Jamaicans are now flocking a product called the Deep Throat Desensitisation Spray, which allows them to perform the oral sex act more comfortably.

Sade Buckeridge, who operates Fetish Secretz, an adult sex toy shop in Kingston, told THE WEEKEND STAR that she has been selling the product for six years, and it is a hot commodity.

"People buy it all day, every day. It's like a best seller. We open from Monday to Saturday and from inventory checks, I see that we sell about five or six for the week," she said.

She explained that it works by preventing the person from gagging while performing oral sex.

"What you do is spray it at the back of your throat and it numbs your throat and it helps with your gag reflex. So once you're giving oral sex, it allows you to 'deep throat' without gagging," Buckeridge said.

She added that the numbing effects last for roughly 30 minutes.

The spray, which costs $3,750, is the most popular because, according to Buckeridge, it is the most effective in numbing the throat.

But there are other products on the market such as a flavoured gel, which sells for $2,000. There was also the Good Head Cream, but she said that product has been discontinued.

Blue Bells, a member Jamaica's Sex Workers Association, told THE WEEKEND STAR that sex workers who are well paid for their services will invest in such products to keep their clients.

"The client would have to have some strong dollars, like somebody coming from abroad with a $40,000 or $50,000, and want a girl for a two night, so a girl would invest in the product and give him a full service," she said.

Based on the active ingredients found in the products, Benzocaine and Lidocane, medical doctor Jephtah Ford said the products are safe for use, but persons should not abuse them.

"There are no ill effects because it's just like when we use the cocaine to numb your throat and prevent you from gagging when we remove foreign objects from the throat. But I don't expect that people will spray it 10 times a day in their throat. Once per night is good enough." he said.
