Top cop found hanging from rope

Detectives attached to the Freeport CIB Department have now launched an investigation into the death of a senior officer who is believed to have committed suicide at his home in Montego Bay, St James, yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Dermot Lawrence, senior superintendent of police in charge of administration at the Area One Headquarters in Montego Bay.

Reports are that shortly after 7:30 p.m., a close friend of the top cop went to his home in Mango Walk and discovered him hanging from a length of rope, which was tied around his neck and suspended from the roof of the house.
