Senior citizen stones man for 'bad parking'

September 04, 2018

A 70-year-old St James man who reportedly stoned another man for parking a car in front of his gate will know his fate when he returns to the St James Parish Court for sentencing on October 18.

The accused man, Richardo Murray, of a Rose Heights address, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding when his matter was mentioned before presiding judge Natalie Creary-Dixon last Wednesday.

The court was told that on July 25, the complainant parked his car in front of Murray's front gate, blocking the entrance.

Murray took offence to this and proceeded to use stones to block the gateway and prevent the complainant from parking there.

When the complainant sought to remove the stones, Murray flung stones at him, and one of them hit the man in his head.

He fell and Murray came over and flung another stone at his head, causing a wound which bled.

The injured man was subsequently assisted to hospital by residents, and following investigations, Murray was arrested and charged.

Creary-Dixon ordered that a social enquiry report should be prepared to assist in determining Murray's sentence. She then extended his bail.
