Pain and suffering - Couple trying to cope after losing baby

October 18, 2018

Stacy-Ann Brown would have been looking forward to her third trimester this month, but now she is devastated after suffering a miscarriage about a month ago.

The 25-year-old woman, who was six months pregnant when she lost the baby, said that on her last visit to the doctor, she was told that they were not hearing a heartbeat. That is when she knew something was wrong.

She said that she was immediately sent to the hospital where she was admitted for three days.

"It was not easy. When I went on the ward, they gave me something, and within a day I pushed out my baby, but she was dead," she said.

Brown said the difficult three days in the hospital were not as hard as the time outside, as she soon started thinking about what her child would have been like and how it would feel to hold her unborn baby in her arms.

FIND THE STRENGTH

Since that day in the hospital, she said that she has been unable to touch anything in the room they had prepared for their child. She said that her partner often asks her if she wants the baby's things to be removed but she cannot find the strength to do it.

"We had to make a lot of changes to the house, and we even recreated the bookroom into her nursery. Every day I go in there and cry. He doesn't know this because I act as if I am tough, but I am not. I know sometimes as men, they don't want to show their emotions, but I know he is hurting, and so I don't want to burden him with my pain," a tearful Brown said.

However, her partner Daniel could not hold back the tears. He told THE STAR that he and Brown have been in a relationship for six years, and for the past two years, they have been trying to have a child.

Although heartbroken about the loss of their baby, Daniel said that he has to remain strong for his partner.

"She behaves strong, but I know deep down she is suffering. I try my best to be there by her side all the time. Sometimes in the night, I hear her crying in her sleep, and I just hug her and tell her it will be alright," he said.

He told THE STAR that their families are helping them to cope with this tragic loss, and they plan to stand by each others' side.

Daniel explained that the journey of healing has just begun, but they are willing to do whatever it takes to get over this hurdle.
