Three persons were rushed to hospital early Friday morning after they were involved in an accident along the Edward Seaga Highway.

According to police reports, the trailer, laden with concrete blocks, appeared to have developed mechanical problems before the crash.

“A trailer was heading down to Mambee Bay [St. Ann] when it seemed to have developed mechanical problems, so he [the driver] choose to use the exit lane to seek some refuge, and with the speed that the trailer was running, it went to the exit lane and over ran it,” commanding officer for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Traffic and Highway Patrol Division, Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen told THE STAR.

The front section of the trailer caught fire. The concrete blocks that were being transported by the trailer were scattered across the roadway leading to traffic delay.

“A fire truck came and had to extinguish the fire while the three persons who were involved are being treated. We don’t know the nature of their condition as yet,” Allen said.
