Over the past few months, dancehall artiste Pamputtae has been heavily pushing her track ' Single Mothers'.

Having witnessed how the song has impacted the lives of women raising children on their own, the entertainer said she was convinced she needed to do more.

So the entertainer decided to jump-start her Single Mothers foundation. Although still in its initial stages, Pamputtae says she will eventually register and legitimise the foundation as she focuses on making an impact outside of the music.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR in a recent interview, Pamputtae revealed that she has already started the process to formalise her foundation.

She says it will be focused on making the lives of single mothers across the island a little more bearable.

"Me just wah help some women weh nuh have it and a struggle because me know what dats like. Me a look some sponsors and stuff now weh can help me help dem right now. But for now, whenever me do shows and stuff like that, me a go make sure a percentage go towards the Single Mother Foundation. Me wah go into some communities and give away some stuff," she said.

Pamputtae also revealed that she made her first 'unofficial' philanthropic appearance on behalf of the foundation on Wednesday.

The entertainer visited the Mustard Seed Children's Home, where she handed out toys, diapers and other essential items to the wards.

She said that the experience left her with a rewarding feeling, which convinced her even more that she was doing the right thing.

"I performed for the staff and for the kids ... I interacted with the children, listened to their stories. they told me all about themselves, wah kinda sickness dem have and stuff like that, and it was a really touching experience just interacting with them," she said. "I also interacted with a lot of the staff, who express dat alot of them are single mothers. Dem say the song really give dem goosebumps, and say the song really touch dem and make dem get emotional and stuff because everything me a sing, a things weh dem live every day. It (the song) was well received when me perform it cuz dem could relate to it and me did just feel good. The whole experience was emotional and touching."
