Fake bleaching cream on the market

March 27, 2019

Original distributors of the Deluxe Nadinola Bleaching Cream, E.W. Abrahams and Sons Limited, has come out to inform the public that they have discontinued that product, and so the one on the market is fake.

One representative told The STAR that the company was made aware of the fake brand and cream through customers, who told them that they have had skin breakouts since using the product.

"We have changed the name from Nadinola to Silken and it comes in a purple and white box. We decided to change it because people are bringing in things that are fake, and since we are aware of that, we have changed it. People have said that they have bought the wrong one and they have skin breakout, so we want our customers to know that it is no longer Nadinola, but it is Silken," the person said.

According to the company, it stopped producing that particular cream since 2015 and has dissociated itself from it.

In a media release, the company highlighted that the counterfeiter keeps changing its own fraudulent packaging claims.

"Current statement on the fake package says that the product is manufactured and distributed by J Strickland, Kng. This is false," said the company.

VERY DANGEROUS

Dr Winston Dawes, the CEO of Mahogany Health & Fitness in St Mary, said that a normal bleaching cream is very dangerous, and to have a fake one is even worse.

He said that a normal bleaching cream causes skin irritation and may even result in very serious skin illnesses.

"Some of these bleaching creams have steroids in them and other stuff which is dangerous. It bleaches the skin and damages it seriously, so it is like double the danger, " he said.

The company also said that it has never disclosed the contents in the original Nadinola product, neither has it given any third-party permission to use the discontinued Nadinola Bleaching Cream name.

"E.W. Abrahams and Sons Limited/ J Strickland and Co. deny any liability for any claim in damages of personal injuries to harm otherwise, resulting from the manufacture, trade or use of the fake Nadinola Bleaching Cream," the statement said.
