Trelawny has recorded its first case of covid-19.

Public Health Parish Manager for the parish Lorene Whinstanley confirmed the positive case of the virus. " The case involves a four-year-old girl who lives in South Trelawny. It was not diagnosed in our jurisdiction. It was done at Spauldings Hospital in Clarendon," she said.

President of The Trelawny Lay Magistrates Association Ken Grant said he took to the streets to appeal to residents in the parish. " I warned the people using my loud hailer to take the virus seriously I observed that not many were following recommended protocol. I made a special appeal to taxi operators, that they should wear their masks and sanitise as often as possible."

Trelawny was one of three parishes which had not recorded any positive results for covid 19.
