When her firstborn daughter died of cancer in 2021, dancehall artiste Queenie Ladi Gangsta said she had no clue what to do with herself.

After all, being the eldest child, Sunitha 'Ro Ro' Lamey held a very special place in her mother's heart, and was one of her main helpers in day-to-day tasks.

"When she passed away, it drained mi energy. She used to help me with housekeeping and the cooking. So after she gone, I really didn't have anything in me fi push and go through. I was an absolute mess," Queenie told THE STAR.

But, more than two years later, she has managed to find her energy and hope again after purchasing a new home for her family in Jamaica.

"Oh gosh man! You see this new home? It just bring back all weh did gone two years ago. It just open a different door. Cause, 'Ro Ro' was the one weh will be down and inna you skin to get a home. So now that we finally get it, I am dedicating everything to her," Queenie said.

The One Man to mi Goodie singer said that she has been hard at work ensuring the space is acceptable for her children and grandchildren, but it is missing one final piece to bring everything together.

"You see the grille that is going up, it's going to have 'Ro Ro' all over it to dedicate to her. So when you come to the house, you know what this place is about - family," she said.

With her energy restored and her family settling nicely into their new tropical home, Queenie said that she'll be returning to the studio very soon.

"When I was on TikTok Live, Nicki [Minaj] come through and really encourage me when I was going through my break-up. So I am going to take what she said on the live and splice it up for a girl empowerment song. But I am still working on it," she said.

For those who are going through rough patches or even considering getting a home themselves, Queenie said "any dream can come through".
