Taximan charged with rape of minor

The Westmoreland police say they have arrested and charged 26-year-old Omar Myrie for the rape of a 15-year-old girl in the parish. 

It is reported that about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 20,  the teen took Myrie’s bike taxi. 

It is further reported that while transporting the teen to her destination, Myrie allegedly took her to his home, where she was assaulted.

The incident was reported to the police and on Wednesday, February 7, Myrie was arrested and charged. His court date is being finalised.
