‘Ganja Baby’ slapped with gun charges

The police in St Elizabeth have arrested and charged 49-year-old Leon Taylor, otherwise known as ‘Ganja Baby’, following the seizure of a firearm on election day. 

According to police reports, cops from the Black River Police Station were on patrol in New Town district in the parish about 8:00 p.m. when they spotted the accused. 

It is reported Taylor was standing beside a white motor vehicle, holding what appeared to be a firearm in his right hand. It is further reported that upon noticing the police, he ran and threw the firearm in rubbish bin.

'Ganja Baby' was accosted and a search of the bin was carried out in his presence, where a 9mm pistol with an empty magazine was found.

He was arrested and taken into custody where he was charged with the possession of prohibited weapon. His court date is being finalised.
