All eyes on Llandewey after tie
As was the case in 2016, the Llandewey Division in St Thomas Western appears to be heading to a recount after the incumbent the People's National Party's (PNP) Edwin Marr and the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) Andrea Patience both polled 1,306 based on preliminary results in yesterday's local government election.
Marr won by 10 votes on the final count in 2016 following a magesterial recount. Twenty-two ballots were rejected in that election in which Marr polled 1,161 votes to the JLP's Francisco Bonner who got 1,151.
Based on preliminary results last night, both parties have won four divisions in the race to the control the 10-seat St Thomas Municipal Corporation. Cedar Valley and Llandewey were the only divisions that were not declared at press time, but Cedar Valley was trending to the JLP.
The PNP won Bath, Port Morant, Morant Bay and White Horses, while the JLP won Seaforth, Trinityville, Yallahs and Dalvey.
