February 27, 2024
Romaine Morris, the man who crossed the floor of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation to join the People's National Party (PNP) last month, has retained his seat as a councillor.
Morris won the seat on the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) ticket in 2016 by 392 votes (1,214 to 822). In yesterday's local government election, this time as a member of the PNP, Morris, based on preliminary results, polled 1,240 votes to the JLP's Clement Alves (1,049).
Morris said he was switching political allegiance based on his "personal conviction and realignment of values and views".
