29-y-o arrested, charged following firearm seizure

Twenty-nine-year-old Demario Williams, a labourer from Little London in Westmoreland, was arrested and charged following the seizure of an illegal firearm. 

According to the Savanna-la-Mar police, officers were conducting an operation in the area on Tuesday, when they saw Williams walking towards a building carrying a green plastic bag.

The suspicious behaviour prompted the officers to approach Williams, who then fled on foot. The officers gave chase and apprehended Williams.

A search of the premises revealed a Kel-Tec Submachine Gun and 11 rounds of ammunition. 

The accused was arrested and subsequently charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition. His court date is being arranged.
