Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque sentenced a Corporate Area man to three months imprisonment for damaging the vehicle of a woman who thought he may have been a robbery suspect.

The defendant, Denson Brooks, was sentenced on Tuesday after pleading guilty to malicious destruction of property and assault at common law. It was shared in court that the complainant is a resident of a Kingston 6 address, which has seen a spate of robberies recorded in the community. On January 4, while driving in the community, the complainant noticed two women running and screaming with Brooks in close proximity. The complainant indicated that Brooks matched the description of the suspect committing the alleged robberies and she started taking pictures of him. Brooks, according to the prosecution, picked up stones and threw them at the complainant's car, causing damage to the rear passenger window. It was also reported that Brooks, armed with a stone in one hand, attempted to open the complainant's car door.

Brooks, who has two previous convictions, was sentenced to three months imprisonment for malicious destruction of property and three months imprisonment for assault at common law. The sentences are to run concurrently.
