Zidane Francis aces CSEC with straight As
In an impressive display of academic excellence, 16-year-old Zidane Francis was able to not only pass all 10 of his Caribbean Examinations Council CSEC exams with grades ones, but he was able to acquire nine distinctions with straight-A profile.
While some students were battling anxiety leading up to their exams, Francis, who attended Campion College, had a different experience and told THE WEEKEND STAR that he was never nervous because he was confident that he would do well.
"I believed in myself and I knew that God would guide me through my exams, and I prepared well," said Francis, who ranked 20th in the country. He said that out of all the 10 subjects he did, only one was slightly challenging.
"I found the add math a bit difficult, but other than that I found the others fairly easy... and I had no challenges," said Francis who did mathematics in fourth form and received a grade one with a distinction.
Now with his steller results, Francis is planning to continue his studies at Campion College's sixth from and thereafter, pursue a career in either civil engineering or architecture.
"During high school I liked doing technical drawing, and I found it fun to be designing houses and using my creativity; so over time, I have grown to like this field," he explained.
The teen also told THE WEEKEND STAR that his strategy for success was removing all distractions for a month prior to exams, and dedicating all his time to his studies. He also advised those planning to sit their exams this coming academic year to do the same.
"I feel like what you should start doing is, get away from distractions and limit procrastination. I don't think it was wise of me to only start studying one month before the exams; however, it did pay off. But I feel like people who are going to sit the exams should start studying from early, so that they can go through early all the resources that they have," Francis said.
