Police recapture fugitive allegedly held with illegal gun in Linstead
The St Catherine North police are investigating a case of escaping custody and breaches of the Firearms Act, which resulted in high drama in Linstead yesterday.
Reports are that about 7:40 a.m., the police from the Area Five Fugitive Apprehension Team went to Riversdale and seized an illegal gun and arrested five men.
It is further reported that while been taken to their cells at the Linstead police station, one of the men allegedly escaped through a side gate and went atop the building.
An alarm was sounded and he jumped off and ran into a nearby community with the police in chase. Allegedly the man was joined by others who opened fire at the police.
The police report that, based on intelligence, they went to the Vanity Fair area outside Linstead where the fugitive was found with injuries. He was taken to the Linstead Hospital under police guard.
