Portmore police fatally shoot unidentified man

The Independent Commission of Investigations is probing the fatal shooting of an unidentified man by the police in Portmore, St Catherine yesterday.

The police say that about 3:40 p.m., during an operation at a residence in the Walker Avenue and Cottage Drive area, the deceased allegedly pulled a gun and fired at them. The police returned fire hitting the man. 

Reports are that an imitation shotgun, two imitation pistols and a Taurus Pistol affixed with a magazine with four round of ammunition were seized from his possession.

The weapons and ammunition were sent for ballistic testing. 

He was assisted to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
