Alleged gunman fatally shot by police in Spanish Town
The Independent Commission of Investigations is probing an incident in which a man was gunned down in an alleged shootout with the police in Spanish Town on Thursday.
Dead is Anthony Kemar Richards, 38, otherwise called 'Ganja' of 38 March Pen Road, St Catherine.
Reports say that about 5:30 a.m., the police were conducting a cordoned and search operation in the area. Richards approached the police and allegedly pulled a handgun and opened fire.
The police took evasive action and returned fire, hitting Richards.
Police say A nine millimetre pistol affixed with a magazine containing one round of ammunition was seized.
Richards was assisted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
