Huge boulders blocking section of Junction main road
A section of the Junction main road in St Andrew is now blocked by huge boulders as part of a massive landslide, which occurred sometime this morning.
The roadway at Toms River is now impassable after a part of the hillside came down which is now blocking the main thoroughfare into Kingston and also into St Mary.
Several days of persistent heavy rains have been restricting the movements of residents and motorists along the Junction main road from St Mary leading into the neighbouring parish.
Just yesterday, work crews from the National Works Agency cleared sections of Broadgate and Friendship Gap in St Mary, which was blocked on Wednesday, to accommodate single-lane traffic amid the heavy rainfall.
Heavy rains since last Friday have been pounding sections of St Mary South Eastern resulting in multiple land slippages in several communities including a section of George Hope and Top Leinster, which are currently undergoing major cleaning up by a work crew to rid the areas of down trees, boulders, and dirt.
