Sales clerk facing fraud charges

February 12, 2025

The Kingston Central police have charged 54-year-old Donald Cameron, a sales clerk of Lakes Pen district, St Catherine, with obtaining money by false pretence, following an incident at Princess Street in Kingston in 2023.

Reports from the lawmen are that Cameron introduced a man to an agency with regards to employment in the United States. Cameron then gave the interested man instructions to pay $280,000, which he paid in cash without receiving a receipt. After several failed attempts to obtain paperwork from Cameron, the man requested a refund. Cameron then promised to return the money, which to date has not been done.

A report was made to the police, and an investigation ensued. On Monday, detectives made a breakthrough in relation to the case, and Cameron was apprehended and subsequently charged for the offence. His court date is being finalised.
