Despite going down 2-1 to Montego Bay United in Red Stripe Premier League action on Sunday with a depleted squad, technical director of Cavalier SC Rudolph Speid is not concerned about his team’s form going towards the play-offs.

Speid said he can replace the missing players who are out on trials in the United States.

Cavalier are without the services both central defender Jamoi Topey (USL) and attackers Nicque Daley and Alex Marshall who are on trial stints overseas.

Schoolboys Ronaldo Webster who came on as a live wire substitute and Shaniel Thomas, who was on the bench, are among others waiting in the wings as possible replacement for the missing players.

NOT REALLY WORRIED

“I’m not really worried even though some of our players would have left. Remember our aim was never ever to win the Premier League. Our objective is to blood enough players to get into the national teams and get contract overseas. If we can achieve that we would be happy, so we can be able to carry up the next set of players coming up,” Speid said.

“We have replacements for everybody it’s just that they are 17 and 18. We do have some quality youngsters, they need to train some more as soon as they get up to the pace of the league they will do very well.”

Speid admitted that it will be a challenge to get his team back to playing at their best before the play-offs.

“Yeah, it will be a challenge but I saw it at the start of the season. All of these players now were young players who didn’t play a lot of Premier League before and I got them ready. The good thing is that I have about six weeks to work with them. It won’t be easy picking the team in the play-offs but we need to get there (play-offs), but first we need a couple more points,” Speid said.
