Multiple World and Olympic champion Usain Bolt has demanded that investment firm Stock and Securities Limited (SSL) reimburse him approximately $2 billion that he stated was in his account.

Bolt's demand comes after it was reported that he is one of the victims of the multimillion-dollar scandal that has hit the firm since revelations came to light about the missing funds last week.

In a letter addressed to the firm by Bolt's attorney Linton Gordon on January 16, the former track and field megastar gave the firm 10 days to pay over the missing funds or face a lawsuit. The letter stated that Bolt had US$12,758,181.74 (approx. J$2 billion) in his account up to October 31 last year but now has seen the amount reduced to a balance of US$12,047.45 (approx. J$1.8m). SSL has until January 27 to respond.

The Financial Services Commission assumed temporary management of SSL last Wednesday with a special auditor already appointed for the firm.

On his social media page on Monday, Bolt posted a clip from his song 'Cryptic World' which features his manager Nugent Walker to craft a message responding to the situation. "In a world of lies where is the truth? The history evil what is the root? Money"

Last Thursday, Walker stated that they could not assess the impact that the fraud has had on Bolt with investigations ongoing. However, he did confirm that Bolt has an account with the investment firm but said that there were no irregularities observed with the portfolio up to Wednesday, according to the statements that were received by him from SSL. Bolt has had an account with the investment firm since 2012.
