St Jago High's Class Three star Jevaney Findlay and Edwin Allen High's Class One sprint hurdler Santae Wilson were the outstanding high school athletes at last Saturday's G.C. Foster College Classic.

Findlay clocked a very good 21.86 seconds to win the Class Three boys' 200 metres. He led a podium sweep for the Monk Street-based school with Rajaun Romelly finishing second in 22.26 and Jden Fisher securing third in 23.17.

Wilson rebounded from her fall at the Central Athletics Championships, where she was locked in a mid-race battle with Hydel High's Jody Ann Daley and Holmwood Technical's Keira Meikle. This time, Wilson engaged in another fierce contest with Meikle but found an extra gear in the latter stages to upstage her opponent, winning in a personal best and meet record 13.44 seconds. Meikle was second in 13.76.

Edwin Allen are poised for a strong showing in the sprint hurdles at this month's ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Championships as Amoya Howell and Tashana Godfrey continued their impressive season over the barriers, claiming victories in Class Four and Class Three 70m and 80m hurdles, respectively.

Howell clocked 10.69 seconds to win the 70m hurdles, holding off St Jago's Ashley Allen (10.99) and Vere Technical's Gabrielle Vassell (11.12). Godfrey dominated the 80m hurdles, crossing the line in 11.27 ahead of Holmwood Technical's Moya Oakley (11.35), with Godfrey's teammate Macaela Gordon (11.58).

Holmwood's female sprinters continued their strong season, securing two wins each in the 200m and 400m events.

In the Class Four 200m, Adalia Simpson recorded a personal best 25.39 to win ahead of Edwin Allen's Gabrielle Lynch (26.03). Holmwood swept the top three spots in Class Two, with Anastasia Hall (25.03) winning ahead of Maddison Campbell (25.41) and Britannia Bailey (25.56). In Class One, Edwin Allen's Jounee Armstrong secured victory in 23.85 with Holmwood's Abriana Wright second in 24.54.

In the 400m, Holmwood's Cindy Rose took the Class One title in 56.58 ahead of Daynea Colstock of Green Island (56.99). Campbell won Class Two in 55.89 edging out Ferncourt High's Shannaty Burke (56.46).

In the 800m, Florence Nafamba of Holmwood won Class One in 2:15.25, Jade Fletcher of St. Jago claimed Class Two in 2:19.21, and Aneka Lowe of Edwin Allen triumphed in Class Three in 2:18.36.

Edwin Allen's boys dominated the 400m hurdles, setting personal best times in both Class One and Class Two. In Class Two Tequan Cummings (55.35 seconds) narrowly edged Denbigh's Kingsley Hanson (55.54, personal best). Meanwhile, Orando Pine took Class One in 54.53 (personal best), just ahead of St Jago's Malachi Needham (54.71).
