JAAA names World Relays teams

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has selected a pool of 31 athletes to represent Jamaica in six events at the World Athletics Relays, which will take place in Nassau, Bahamas from May 4-5.

According to a release by the JAAA, seven athletes will be in the pool for the women's 4x100 metres, eight for the 4x400 and mixed relays, while in the men's pool, seven athletes have been selected for the 4x100 and nine for the 4x400 and mixed relays.

Promising athletes Alana Reid and Roshawn Clarke, who participated at the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships last year and have since turned professionals, have been included.

The list, however, is without several of Jamaica's international individual medal-winning athletes over the 100 and 400 metres, including Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, Shericka Jackson, and Elaine Thompson Herah, who have all won gold medals at either the Olympic Games or the World Championships.

Antonio Watson, the reigning 400 metres World Championships winner, is also missing.

Meanwhile, the management team for the event is comprised of nine members.
