Former Reggae Boy Jorginho James will face two charges of assault, one against a family member and another for violating the terms of his bail, when he faces a Texas criminal court next month.

James, the former schoolboy standout who made his international debut for Jamaica in 2012, was arrested in August after he allegedly assaulted his wife, Crystal James. The incident is said to have happened in front of their daughter.

The incident was caught on camera and has since gone viral on social media.

James was out on bail at the time due to an initial charge of assault, which occurred in March this year.

Harris County court documents stated he was arrested on March 4 for "unlawfully, intentionally and knowingly cause bodily injury to Crystal James, hereafter styled the complainant, a member of the defendant's family, by impeding the normal breathing and circulation of blood of the complainant by applying pressure to the complainant's throat".

The court granted a $7,500 bail, which was paid, and James was released with the conditions of wearing an ankle monitor, as well as observing a protection order filed against him.

In July, James filed a motion in the court to remove the ankle monitor on the grounds of the device causing a risk to his job.

He worked as a youth coach at Pearland Soccer Club at the time and was told by the club that his role would be terminated if he did not have the ankle monitor removed in time for the start of the season.

The court granted this motion after a letter from Pearland Soccer Club was submitted as evidence to his case.

"The club intends to terminate your role as a player development coach on the season start date of July 24, 2024, if the monitoring device is still in effect," the letter stated.

It added: "The club will reconsider you for reinstatement after the device is removed and you are able to execute in the environment, in uniform."

However, while out on bail, James was again arrested when he allegedly assaulted his wife last month in a second incident that was caught on camera.

James was again released on bail, this time on a US$20,000 bond, and now awaits his next court date which is set for October 28.
