Happy Grove stay perfect in d’Cup

Happy Grove High School maintained their perfect record in the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup football competition when they blanked Seaforth High 4-0 at Seaforth High yesterday.

The win was Happy Grove's fourth in as many matches and kept them atop Zone L on 12 points.

Despite losing, Seaforth High stayed second in the group on seven points, which they had secured with two wins and a draw in their previous three matches.

Yallahs High also maintained their position in the group, at third, on six points from three games, despite a surprise 2-0 home defeat against Morant Bay High. The latter climbed to five points, following their first win in three matches.

Paul Bogle High made a big jump to secure fourth place in Zone L on six points, following their 3-1 away win against bottom-of-the-table Robert Lighbourne High, who have lost all four matches.

Meanwhile, Garvey Maceo registered the biggest win of the day, a 12-1 thumping of Porus High at Porus Community Centre in their Zone I matchup.

The huge victory catapulted Garvey Maceo from fourth spot to second on nine points, in this their fourth match. Kemps Hill High, who have also played four matches, have nine points but their goal difference is inferior to Garvey Maceo's.

Porus have been very porous, letting in 37 goals while scoring twice in four matches, all of which they have lost.

Defending champions Clarendon College shot to the top of Zone H with a 6-0 drubbing of Thompson Town. The champions were registering their third win in as many matches, while Thompson Town were losing for the second time in as many outings.

Edwin Allen scored their second win in three matches to move to six points and second in the group, after beating Denbigh High 5-1 at Denbigh. Central High, with two wins from two matches, also have six points in Zone H, but lie third by virtue of goal difference. Denbigh High were losing for the second time in three matches. They have three points.
