Hope leads Capitals to easy win
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates:
In-form opener Shai Hope fell just short of a well-deserved half century, but his efforts were enough as his Dubai Capitals registered a comfortable five-wicket victory over the Gulf Giants when the International League T20 continued yesterday.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, the Giants finished on 153 for five from their 20 overs, with Jordan Cox hitting the topscore of 70 from 53 balls, Gerhard Erasmus scored 29, while Shimron Hetmyer lashed an unbeaten 17 from 15 balls and Dominic Drakes ended on one not out.
West Indies pacer Obed McCoy was one of four bowlers who took a wicket for the Capitals.
Hope then smashed 47 from 39 balls as the Capitals easily overhauled the target in 18.4 overs, ending on 154 for five.
After Hope was the fifth batsman to be dismissed, Dasun Shanaka scored an unbeaten 34 off just 10 balls and shared an unbroken partnership of 44 with captain Sikandar Raza, who made 26 not out, to take their team over the line.
Drakes was expensive with the ball while going wicketless, with his 3.4 overs going for 38 runs.
