Christmas is a waste of time
Dear Pastor,
I am from Kingston. For me, Christmas is a waste of time. I used to be in favour of celebrating Christmas, but I am not into it anymore.
I am not against it, but I am not for it either. I don't want to hear Christmas songs. I just want Christmas to be done away with. Going to church is for dead people who have no life to enjoy.

Dear T,
There are many who would agree with you. They don't want anything to do with Christmas. However, there are those of us who understand the true meaning of Christmas.
It's a celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ who came into this world as a babe to redeem sinners. We are not sure what the true date of his birth was, but we know that he was born in Bethlehem.
His earthly parents were Mary and Joseph, and the Bible says he was God in the flesh and he came to reveal the Almighty. He was called the Saviour of the world.
There are many who would ask, why celebrate his birth when we are not sure of the exact date?. Well, as a justice of the peace and a minister of religion, I have had to help many people whose births were not registered at the Registrar General's Department.
They don't have a clue who their parents are and when and where they were born. Shouldn't we celebrate the birth of these people? Yes, we should.
Thank you for your letter. However, friend, you are so wrong. Going to church is not for dead people. Bodies of dead men and women are taken to church for funerals.
I hope that you do not reject Christ or die without knowing Him as your Saviour and Lord.
Pastor
