In love with my friend’s ex

Dear Pastor,

There is this man that I like, but I have this friend that I have known for three years. We talk every day. The man I am in love with is her ex-boyfriend.

I know it doesn't feel right. They broke up three years ago. One day he came to me and he said that he liked me. He kept bugging me and saying he liked me.

I told him that his ex is my friend and I couldn't be with him because it was wrong. He said that he would tell her that he is in love with me.

He went to her and told her that he loved me, and she said that she was okay with it.

Pastor, I still believe it is wrong, and that she is not ok with it. What should I do? I need your advice.

Dear S.C.,

If this man is not having an intimate relationship with your girlfriend anymore and you love him and he loves you, what is wrong with having a relationship with him?

If you were guilty of doing things in encouraging him to leave her and come to you, that would be a different matter. I do not, however, see anything wrong in dating this man.

You probably should not take his word. I suggest therefore, that you talk to your girlfriend about it and find out for sure how she feels.
