Never stop going after your dreams

Khadine 'Miss Kitty' Hylton

It has been a whirlwind since my graduation last Friday at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona campus!

I don't have enough superlatives to articulate how grateful, happy, honoured and humbled I am by your acknowledgment and kind words.

Thanks to all who seh Miss Kitty because from yuh seh me, mi seh you! To all my supporters and well-wishers who find themselves 'defending' me from the pagans dem, I hope this accomplishment will further galvanise your support for the 'Fluffy Diva'! Mi love unnu so til!

To my fellow graduates, I want to congratulate all of you on a magnificent achievement. Academic excellence is not easy by any stretch of the imagination.

The end looks pretty, but the journey rough and full a pothole like some a Jamaica road! From financial difficulties to meeting assignments and deadlines, to sleeping in the library, to beating for exams, to feeling like wanting to give up, to believing in yourself and know seh yuh haffi hold on ri mek it.

Many students came from islands like Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

FLOURISHING INTEGRATION

It nice fi see Caribbean integration happening, and I hope it will continue and flourish even outside of UWI confines.

While the graduates bask in glow of their accomplishment, I hope that this will serve as a source of motivation to each and everyone to be the best version of themselves and go after your dreams.

Anno everybody want become a lawyer or doctor and anno everybody want go university, and that is fine. The moral of the story is to find what you love and are passionate about and go after your dream relentlessly.

Do not give up on yourself, just keep focused on your goal and push through. There are times when you may feel to give up and throw in the towel, because ambition no easy! Put yuh trust inna God and he will help to guide and protect you.

Many days mi cry, mi tired and feel like mi just want go inna bed go lie down and cover up! But mi just pray and go through.

Don't think about the 'how', just focus on your 'why'. Your 'why' might be your children, your mother, father or yourself. God will work out the 'how'.

It may seem dismal and impossible, but it can be done. If I can do it, so can you; and you can do even better!
