Gospel Spotlight: K-Anthony hopes to positively impact youth
Gospel artiste K-Anthony says he is determined to use his music to positively impact the minds of the youth.
Speaking with Gospel Spotlight, the artiste expressed that the country's crime rate is troubling, but believes that if people could tackle the issues influencing crime, then the country could see some improvements.
"When I speak of issues influencing crime, this relates to the breakdown of the social structure. There is so much absence of fathers from the family structure. There are parents having to leave the kids behind to go overseas to make better for the kids, and because of this guidance is lacking in the homes," he said. "We also have an issue where hard work is concerned. It seems it's not as valued as it was before. As a result, there is so much greed and anger and jealousy growing in the hearts of men. Crime can and will decrease when we tackle some of these underlying issues."
INFLUENCING A CHANGE
He said that as a gospel artiste, he plans to lead by example and influence a change through his music.
"It is my desire that my music speaks to [the] heart of people, to let them know that God is real and there is a better way to live," he said.
K-Anthony noted that he doesn't have a song directly addressing crime, but had a few that speak to the issues people are going through daily.
"Persons are saying the church is absent (in helping to find a solution to crime). As a gospel artiste and a Christian, I believe it is my duty to let the love of Christ be seen in my message and action," he said.
K-Anthony said that while he may not be a household name in the local gospel realms just yet, he is putting in the work and hopes his music will saturate the market soon enough.
While he waits on his time to come, he is focused on the message he's hoping to send.
"I'm inspired by the drive to get my music to the ears of the people, but that is based more upon the impact I know music can have and I want to impact people for Christ," he said. "If 10 people hear me and come to know Christ, it's better than 10,000 just listening because of my name and never getting to have that connection with God."
The artiste is currently working with Uphill Studios, headed by Sean Hill. They are putting some final touches on his first international single and an album.
He is also doing recordings for Six19 Record label, owned by radio veteran Shawn Christopher, partnering with Dream Label Group with distribution by Capitol Christian.
