STAR of the Month: Shane O eyes international market

Shane O has the comeback story for 2018. With several songs in heavy rotation on the local scene following years of absence from spotlight, Shane O says he is now ready for the international market.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR, the Partner Draw singer said that there was one point during his hiatus when he felt like giving up but was encouraged to be optimistic. Now that the sun has come out for him, the artiste said that he is looking beyond the '876', as he cannot allow his career to stall again.

"Anytime yuh get a chance as an artiste, yuh haffi just try keep up. So right now, me just a gwaan put out song. Me a go do wah me haffi do," he said. "Me used to go a me bed a night time and dream fi go everywhere like everybody. See it deh, passport full a visa yah now. The mount a show line up yah now."

The entertainer also said that he is keen on making a splash in territories outside of Jamaica.

"Me nuh know no artiste weh nuh want make it overseas. Everybody waah have dem song a play outside of Jamaica, and a dat a my focus yah now," he said.

"Yuh haffi have a team in these times. Dat a one a di thing me learn during the likkle time deh. Yuh haffi have a management weh a deal wid certain parts, a negotiate deals overseas and thing. If yuh nuh have a team as an artiste, it nah go make no sense. You just a go stuck one place, yuh nah go move forward."

And, if he could collaborate with any international act, Shane O wants to work with Nicki Minaj.

"Bredda, she a bad, bad artiste," he said. "She can rap wicked, and she always change up her style. None a dem (female rappers) nuh bad like her."
