Recording artiste Ras Ghandi is on a mission to combat cancer with his latest single 'Kill Cancer', and wants everyone who listens to the record to join in his fight.

The record has already gained traction in the United States, which is one of the countries at the forefront in the fight against the deadly disease, and Ghandi hopes other reggae markets will join what he now calls the 'Kill Cancer Movement'.

The artiste told THE STAR that the single is more than just a song to promote him as an artiste, as he is concerned about the growing number of persons dying from cancer and wants to create awareness.

"This is a genuine effort by me to strengthen the fight against cancer because this illness is becoming a plague in the world. From I born and hear about sickness, this is the first one I see which can attack humans from so many angles," he said. "If you eat food, you can get it; if you stay in the sun, you can get it; if you get a hit, you can get it ... so many ways. It's like we are being cornered, so we have to fight it as a community with education."

HELPING THE CAUSE

Educating people through music is not the only way the artiste plans to show that he genuinely wants to help.

He also plans to visit cancer centres across the island to speak to patients.

"I have started to give people motivational talks. As artistes, we have to be an example to fans because music is a powerful tool and in the right hands, we can change the world," he said. "I am encouraging persons to join my campaign, because everybody knows somebody who knows somebody that is affected by this deadly disease."

The artiste is set to perform at a cancer-related charity show in London called the Screen Nation Awards, hosted by Black Panter.
