After not being able to do what she loved for more than a year, singer Sophia Brown made the comeback of a lifetime on the weekend when she copped not one, not two, but three awards at the Lady Flava Radio Network Awards Show in Hartford, Connecticut.

Brown, who was up for an award in Best Female Lovers Rock Singer category, won that award, as well as a humanitarian award and an award for her contribution to music over the years.

Speaking with THE STAR about her victories, Brown said the night turned out to be more than she expected. She said that while the win in the lovers rock category was perhaps expected, the other two awards came as a surprise.

"I am so excited. I cannot even begin to explain what I'm feeling. I didn't expect all of this," she said.

As someone who prides herself on helping others, Brown expressed that although she is happy about winning her category, she is most excited about the humanitarian award.

Grateful

"I am grateful for all the awards, but I am most grateful for the humanitarian award because it comes with a body of work. The world needs to understand that there is a greater body of work that we need to focus on outside of music. As persons of influence, once we are in a position to affect someone else's life positively, we should, and so this award, in particular, means a lot to me," she said.

As she looks forward to performing in Balti-more during the Thanksgiving weekend, Brown says the wins have given her a confidence boost.

"I am definitely in a fantastic frame of mind heading to Baltimore for Thanksgiving weekend. The awards definitely help to set up what is to come for the rest of the year and next year. I am looking forward to all that is to come, and I am embracing each accomplishment as it comes," Brown said.
