Father Culture has Grammy hopes for sophomore album

Roots-reggae artiste Father Culture is not only hoping to reach the four corners of the Earth with his second album, he also wants to reach the Grammy stage.

Dubbed All Over The World, the project is slated for release on July 12 and will host no more than 15 songs that were produced by Canada-based producer Garnett 'Bobby' Pottinger.

"I'm trying to get this album a Grammy. I think it is gonna be the album that is gonna go all over the world," he told THE STAR.

"We have some beautiful tracks filled with just positivity on it. We have some things lined up to push it out there - from back-to-back videos and a tour in Canada and Europe - so I am excited."

The set will feature previously released tracks like It's A Shame and Put On Your Clothes. The sole collaboration on the album is with Ninja Dallas.

It will be distributed by VP Records. This partnership is quite a step up for the 53-year-old artiste, who has been trying to make a name for himself since he started his recording career in the 1990s.

For a number of years, Father Culture has been recording music at his Thunder Music Recording Studio with the help of Pottinger, who creates the beats. His steadfastness to the business seems to be paying off, as the VP endorsement will see heavy promotion placed on the project.

"Pottinger is the one that really made the link to VP. With VP being long-standing people in the business, I have a good feeling that only great things can happen, so I am hoping for the best," he said.

Father Culture, whose real name is Franklin Dayes, has roots in St Ann and Grants Pen, St Andrew. His debut album, Rising Son, was released in 2013 and features 14 tracks.
